One Belt One Road Hungary attracts 1 ProTeam and 20 continental teams for return to racing

The One Belt One Road Hungary 2.2 is the first UCI race on the rescheduled Hungarian road race calendar in mid august, with the two-day stage race attracting 1 ProTeam and 20 major continental teams as the riders test their form and the medical protocols for the return to racing after the COVID-19 coronavirus lockdown.

According to the organizers, the race was inundated with requests from 40 teams, eventually giving the maximum spots to 1 ProTeams and 20 continental and several regional and national teams.

If the COVID-19 pandemic is under control in a month the Norwegian Uno-X Development Team and such strong continental teams as Adria Mobil, CCC Development Team, Felbermayr Simplon Wels, Giotti Victoria and Israel Cycling Academy will line up for this year’s race.

The final race route has still to be finalised and approved by local authorities. On the basis of the order of the Hungarian Government on the restrictions for the summer period – according to which basically no outdoor sports event is allowed –, MER SE counts with the dates of 16-17 August for the realisation of the One Belt One Road Hungary race.

The sports initiative came into being last year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian-Chinese trade relations, and this year it is registered in the international race calendar as 2.2 category event.
